AMS To Launch Rural Outreach Programme

Posted on | Category:

We're delighted to announce AMS has secured funding to deliver a rural outreach programme to nearby communities throughout Fife.

AM Small Communities was initially started in early 2015 with aims of reaching out to primary schools in rural areas and then delivering extra-curricular multi-sports sessions by AM Soccer Club coaches to pupils of all ages. The multi-sports session were designed to give access and opportunity to engage in physical activity which they did not have access to before. We are pleased to be relaunching this programme to aid the development of young people and bridge their gap to physical activity before high-school. These sessions will be delivered within the communities of:

  • Pitlessie
  • Springfield
  • Letham
  • Dersie
  • Strathmiglo
  • Balmullo
  • Ceres
  • Ladybank
  • Dunbog
  • And more.

AMS Club Manager Lindsay Sharp said the following: "We are delighted to have gained support that means we can reach out to rural communities and take sport to people who otherwise would have less chance to participate. We hope to engage with people of different generations, as the participation is aimed at children but we are seeking adult volunteers that may have interest in developing confidence and who would enjoy regular interaction and supporting the sustainability of this project. This is a fantastic opportunity to spend time with other people from within the community, enjoying sport and games that bring so many different benefits."

In order to deliver these multi-sports sessions we are looking to recruit volunteer coaches. If you are interested in seeing this programme come to your community or getting involved as a volunteer coach, please contact lindsaysharp@amsoccerclub.org for more information.
