COACH

What attracted you to coaching at AM Soccer Club?

  • Being able to coach football to children of all ages and abilities was the real attraction. I knew AM Soccer were based throughout Fife and I had heard of the great work they were doing with team football development, soccer schools and I loved how they offered various football camps for kids every year.

What do you feel is the most important aspect of your role as a Coach?

  • I feel enjoyment is a major thing I look for throughout any session I take. If the kids are enjoying the session, they will work harder to improve on skills and techniques and will stay focused on what you are asking of them.

What is your favourite AM Soccer Curriculum skill and why?

  • Ronaldo step-over. It’s such a simple skill which can totally deceive a defender to get yourself through on goal. Seeing the kids practice it in game-related practices is brilliant to watch.

Can you recall your favourite football moment from your life, so far?

  • As I’m a goalkeeper myself, its got to be watching David Marshall pull off that match-winning penalty save against Serbia to get Scotland to the Euros. If I had to pick a personal favourite moment, it would be when I represented my university where we won the British Cup in 2018 beating Bournemouth University in the final in Nottingham.

If you could sit with any person, past or present for dinner and a conversation, who would that person be?

  • Tiger Woods. The greatest of all time in his sport in my opinion. Bet he would have some great stories and he might be able to give me a bit of help on my short game while he’s at it.
